BOOK SPOTLIGHT & REVIEW: A Million Thoughts: Learn All About Meditation from the Himalayan Mystic By Om Swami

A Million Thoughts: Learn All About Meditation from the Himalayan Mystic
By Om Swami
Genre: Spirituality, Meditation, Health

Each one of us is a master of infinite possibilities at a universal scale. Through meditation we experience our own magnificence, our true potential.

Drawing on his experience of thousands of hours of earnest and strenuous meditation, renowned sage Om Swami pens a guide to help channelize unruly, futile thoughts and turn them into productive energy.

A Million Thoughts shows how to meditate correctly, how to practice various styles of meditation and how to become proficient in the many yogic practices that will lead to the final stage of samadhi — the ultimate spiritual self-fulfillment.

Brimming with firsthand experiences and references from ancient and classical texts, this brilliant book is most suited for the modern reader who wishes to master the art of meditation.

My Review:

I can't speak for the rest of America, but I can certainly speak for myself in saying that I find myself quite often lost in a mire of conflicting feelings. Lost in the confusion of technology, lust for material possessions and a million other superficial worries and concerns. A general feeling of vague and hard-to-define dissatisfaction with the trappings of modern life and the meaning of my 'true' inner self, and where I am heading or what I really should be doing. In my search for just the most basic peace and contentment, I at many times become sidetracked by the mundane and absurd minutiae of our 'information age'. At a time that I needed it most, I discovered (through my work on the internet) Om Swami's stunning book A Million Thoughts: Learn All About Meditation from the Himalayan Mystic.

I have been on a quest to reconcile my 'true self' with my existence on this physical plane and found some relief and much insight in how to achieve a real peace and serenity while continuing to walk in this body. Through a series of teachings and story-telling, Om Swami discusses at length the strength of meditation, and the relief and inner calm that can be achieved by a quiet focus on my own inner consciousness. Focusing on finding harmony and being in rhythm with the subtle songs of our natural world and universe. This is a book that I will (and you can, too!) return to over and over as a guide to peace and love. Not just for myself, but on towards all things living. I am so happy to have discovered this great book at just the perfect time in my life to really be able to embrace it. But isn't that how things are supposed to work when we attempt to be in harmony with all that is around us? Thank you, Om Swami. For caring enough. My highest accolades are not sufficient.
