After a number of earthquakes hammer the Sierra Madre region of Mexico, Grupo Verdugo, a splinter group of cartel enforcers, takes control of the drug shipping routes through that territory. Caught in the middle, a small orphanage high in the mountains, desperate for supplies to care for the children and the battered earthquake victims, reaches out to Abel Yeager for help.

Yeager and his friend Victor agree to deliver the needed food and medicine. But Grupo Verdugo seems to have a special interest in starving out the clergy and forcing them to bend to their will. They send a man known as the Executioner to stop anyone daring to assist the people.

Yeager and Victor are in for the biggest fight of their lives as they are forced to move forty children, a dozen sick and injured patients, and one feisty doctor out of the mission and through mountains infested with vicious killers.

My Review:

Abel Yeager is nothing short of a bad ass which is why he has been called upon to help some less fortunate folks down in Mexico who have been falling prey to the local drug cartel. Yeager is initially reluctant to travel from his Texas ranch and comfortable life, but he does go and boy, does he clean house. It was priceless how Yeager was a speedy curve ball thrown in their direction. They didn’t see this human force coming their way. Scott Bell brings the action and suspense. The author did a phenomenal job with keeping the adventure rolling. 5 stars!!

It is into this world that Huck and Molly race.

They cannot stop. They cannot turn back. They can only go on. Lives hang in the balance—including theirs.

My Review:

Andrew Joyce is a prolific writer. He has spun a story around classic characters Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn, who we are all familiar with, but Joyce portrays them as mature men who are still young at heart. They leap at the chance of hunting down a killer and fighting treacherous weather in Alaska. There is nothing corny about these two. There is humor, honesty, and loyalty melting from each page. This book deserves 5 stars.

Andrew Joyce left high school at seventeen to hitchhike throughout the US, Canada, and Mexico. He wouldn’t return from his journey until decades later when he decided to become a writer. Joyce has written four books, including a two-volume collection of one hundred and forty short stories comprised of his hitching adventures called BEDTIME STORIES FOR GROWN-UPS (as yet unpublished), and his latest novel, RESOLUTION. My Review:

Abe Lincoln wasn’t the only one feeling the effects of acid from this plot. I, myself, a sober reader, fell down the rabbit hole of this story and lost some reality. The authors include heavy hitters in this historical fiction, like Barack Obama, Joe Biden, Abraham Lincoln, JFK, and Martin Luther King Jr. to name a few.Mostly set in 1968, the authors have masterminded a fascinating plot stemming from the mystery and voodoo after Lincoln was assassinated. Honest Abe is held captive by another political leader, escapes, and sets out on his own mission.

Abe Lincoln on Acid is a wild tale! I would give this 4 stars. Kudos to the authors!

My Review:

Mr. Cole has delivered us a superstar book in Raven’s Peak. It was effortless to maintain interest in this story as the main characters were strong and entertaining. They juggled their loyalty and emotions while battling supernatural beings. The author had no problem keeping me on the edge of my seat while frantically turning each page. This book was a quick read, but don’t let that fool you, the meat is there. Five stars!

My Review:

Bobby could be titled the Eighth Wonder of the World. His arrival into life was tragic, yet he overcame it all by his natural intelligence. His growth was unlike any other child his age. He surpassed “normal” children. His mental growth did lack emotional experiences that torment him years later. He begins making contributions to the scientific world that put him in great danger. Miracle Man is a long read jam-packed with details about a man who is not understood by many and loved by few. It is a fascinating story.

My Review: 

Dan Straka has dealt a winning hand!  A Wolf On The Loose is the 1st of five episodes in 36 parts centered on two friends and combat veterans from entirely different economic and racial backgrounds who extend an alliance into civilian life.  This powerful story unfolds from there! Superbly written, colorful and real character development, and just plain exciting past / present writing style and plot twists that pull you into the protagonists lives and keep you enthralled at every turn! As an ex-marine, very accurate in detail, as well. Honestly, I can't wait to read episode 2 in this series, and I love the way that Mr. Straka has structured this tale. Strong stuff, and beautifully told. Five Stars!
